Adivo announces TechWriter 2009 Release 2.0

Release 2 of TechWriter 2009 is now available for download. This latest release includes the following new capabilities:

  • Table Support - The rich formatting in TechWriter now includes support for formatting tables in embedded comments and through the annotation editor.
  • XML/DocBook Output - In addition to the many different output formats supported by TechWriter, you can now generate XML that conforms to the DocBook 5.0 standard.
  • Internal Links in RTF Output - The RTF output format now includes support for internal links through the use of bookmarks that can be used to navigate between topics.
  • Support for documenting faults (TechWriter for Web Services) - Web Service method faults can now be documented using embedded comments or annotations and included in the generated documentation.
  • Namespace Prefixes (TechWriter for Web Services) - Namespace prefixes for elements, attributes and types can now be omitted from the generated documentation.

This release is a free upgrade to existing TechWriter 2009 customers.

Adivo announces TechWriter for Websites

We are pleased to announce the latest addition to the TechWriter family of documentation generators, TechWriter for Websites. Web designers and developers now have a powerful tool for automatically generating documentation for their projects.

TechWriter for Websites generates reference documentation for the pages, images, embedded media, CSS style sheets and Javascript files that make up a website complete with cross referencing and screenshots of each page.

As part of our efforts to ensure full support of Windows 7, TechWriter 2009 has earned the "Compatible with Windows 7" Logo award from Microsoft. The requirements for certification ensure that TechWriter customers can expect a smooth transition to TechWriter 2009 and Windows 7.

  • Rich text content model that allows formatting of paragraphs, lists, bold and italic font and more.
  • Create hyperlinks between topics and to external URLs
  • New HTML Page output type.
  • Remarks section for more detailed documentation.
  • Import/Export annotations to an XML file
  • Support for SAS datasets (Database edition)
  • Support for deriving XML schema from an XML instance (XML Schema edition)

Announcing Beta Release of TechWriter 2009

Today marks the start of the public beta for TechWriter 2009 which is now available for download. This release represents a major step forward for the TechWriter family of products with many new features including:

  • WYSIWYG editor for editing annotations.
  • Rich text content model that allows formatting of paragraphs, lists, hyperlinks and more.
  • New HTML Page output type.

The beta release is expected to run through November 11, 2009.

Announcing TechWriter 2007 Release 5

Release 5 of TechWriter 2007 is now available for download. This latest release includes the following new capabilities:

  • Refresh menu option and button for refreshing database, XML schema and web service definitions.
  • Support for parsing descriptions from procedure and function comments. (TechWriter for Databases)
  • New option for controlling sorting of columns. (TechWriter for Databases)
  • Support for inheriting view column comments from underlying table column. (TechWriter for Databases)
  • Support for exporting Access comments to a VB module. (TechWriter for Databases)
  • New option for controlling sorting of elements within content model. (TechWriter for XML Schemas)
  • Support for @return JavaDoc tag. (TechWriter for Web Services)

This release is a free upgrade to existing TechWriter 2007 customers.

Announcing TechWriter 2007 Release 4

Release 4 of TechWriter 2007 is now available for download. This latest release includes the following new capabilities:

  • Command line interface for automated builds.
  • Language file support for overriding output headings and text that can be used to support languages other than English or to produce highly customized output.
  • Improved support for multi-paragraph descriptions.
  • Example section support. (TechWriter for XML Schemas)
  • Element defaults. (TechWriter for XML Schemas)

This release is a free upgrade to existing TechWriter 2007 customers.

Release 3 of TechWriter 2007 is now available for download. In addition to quality improvements based on customer feedback, this new release also includes the following new capabilities:

  • Support for Access 2007 databases
  • Support for SQL Server 2008 databases
  • Export table and column annotations to SQL script
  • Table of Contents support for Word/RTF output
  • Cross referencing of XML Schema attributes, elements and types
  • URLs can now be used to specify the location of XML schemas

TechWriter Passes Microsoft Platform Tests
November 7, 2007

TechWriter 2007 for XML Schemas has successfully passed Microsoft Windows Client and Managed Code Platform Tests.  These tests demonstrate Adivo's commitment to building quality software products. Testing was conducted independently by VeriTest, a testing service of Lionbridge Technologies.
