Installation

To start the TechWriter install, double-click on the MSI file that you were provided for installation. If this is the first time that TechWriter has been installed on the computer, additional packages may be required to be installed first. Once these requirements have been meet, the TechWriter installation can proceed.

The TechWriter installer uses a wizard interface to walk you through the installation process. Below is display for the first step.

Setup Wizard

To continue on to the next step, simply click on the 'Next' button. Later steps will allow you to control how TechWriter will be installed, for example, selection of the folder where TechWriter will be installed. Although not required, we recommend using the defaults given for each of these steps. After the final step, TechWriter will be installed.

If you change your mind and do not wish to install TechWriter , you can click on the 'Cancel' button to exit the installer.

First Time Installation Packages

The first time TechWriter is installed on the computer may require additional packages to be installed before the installation can proceed. These prerequisites include:

Microsoft Data Access Components 2.8
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
Windows Installer 3.1

The setup program will automatically check for these packages and install them if necessary.
